This game is delightful.
"Happy Birthday, Robot!" is a quick-playing game where the focus of play is on using dice, coins, and imagination to create any number of stories that always start with the words, "Happy Birthday, Robot!"
Solis has also created a text that while fun to read and gorgeous looking, is also at pains to be accessible. Forex, there are numerous procedural diagrams that gently guide you through the storytelling gameplay. Indeed, the first few pages of the text are devoted to stories - charmingly illustrated by the talented Rin Aiello - contributed by folks who created them by playing the game.
There are also lots of callouts directed at teachers and parents that contain tips about how best to explain, play, and have fun with this game in the classroom and home. Structured storytelling for the win. Ostensibly the game is aimed at children, but a whack of Actual Play reports that I've read are from adult-only playgroups, who have had a lot of fun with it.
Warmly recommended.
