Earth Unleashed is a D&D (or Fantasy D20) adventure designed for 7th level characters. It is set in the logging village of Wodfeld which is detailed enough to be interesting and generic enough to be easily adapted to just about any standard fantasy setting. ?one Roleplaying Games sells a set of interior maps for Wodfeld?s building, should the DM wish to add that level of detail to the game.
The presentation of the adventure is excellent with clean layouts, good maps, player hand-outs, and good art work. This excellent visual presentation frames a solid adventure, with a few twists and turns to keep it interesting.
The basic structure of the adventure is to draw the PC into investigating the strange happening going on in Wodfeld: rains of stones and strange noises in the wood. These are, in fact, signs that a sorcerer is attempting to awaken a massive golem, the Colossus, which is literally buried under the village . . . Unfortunately, a local drudical cult has misinterpreted this as nature?s displeasure at the actions of the villagers leading them to take radical action to drive the villagers away. The PCs are caught between the sorcerer and the druid and must fend off both of them in order to survive and triumph. (That is one option that is not addressed in detail, what if the PCs decide to ally with one side or the other?)
There is advice on how to scale the adventure for higher or lower level groups (including stat blocks for important NPCs at different levels) making it easily adaptable. Should the PCs succeed, they have a potential base of operations in Wodfeld, if they manage to do so withou destroying the village of course . . .
This adventure is good, adaptable and a pleasure to look at.
