Dungeon Room Descriptions (FG)
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild

To do this review justice, as I would want to do to all things that I put my name to, I want to preface some of MY qualities first. Playing since 1982, DMing shortly thereafter. Have been around computers since TRS-80 (no relation to WotC). Avid 'collector of things', preferably useful and unique.

So, to begin there are 2 different version of the Dungeon Room Descriptions - The Fantasy Grounds (FG) .mod and the PDF / XLSX version.
The .mod file holds no other files, or a ‘read me’ file, so you should know where to place the file. For new users to FG this may require a search online and dependent upon how you configured your setup in FG. There are no other required files, making this easily a copy and paste into the Modules folder (or other appropriate area), and activate in the Library.

The layout and setup once you open the “Story” template and “Generate” make for a lightning fast write up, easy configured to post it to the Story File and share with players, or directly into the Chat feature. The descriptions are at times humorous, dark, delightful, inspiring and verbose, such that once generated can make for a wall of text, making for some difficulty reading. The flavor and mood are easily adjusted by altering what is provided, but there are so many unique ideas, it may be dangerous for the ADHD DM or player who takes too literally what they ‘see’ and may slow down some dungeon crawls, or it may just give the players some additionally longevity, as safety is not something traditionally built into dark areas where creatures lurk.

After 3 sessions, with using the Dungeon Room Descriptions, I will not run FG without it!

It is a quick window to have open and ready to pull from, even if the room is already planned and detailed, one can pull quickly from the other areas as players request details you did not have ready (not that players ever do that!), from walls, floors, floor coverings, notables, ceilings, doors, door handles, and more!!

Although there are some minor typos and grammar issues, it is not a detractor from the overall scope and magnitude of the work.

There is an opportunity to expand on the 44 trillion options that currently exist, I mean not that 44 trillion combinations is going to be used quickly in many campaign worlds. This however, will allow the creative writer to customize the templates for their campaign or genre, making this truly a tool not just for medieval or fantasy campaigns, but any campaign platform used in Fantasy Grounds.

The cost of this tool and the depth to it; the amount of customization; the sheer inspirational qualities alone make this a .mod a steal at ten times the value! I am suitably impressed with both the ease of use, the flow, format, and layout, I have little to criticize. A job well done and thought out and it is evident in the final product. I look forward to more quality work from this author in the future. DM Veitch. 2018 Feb 03

Hey, thanks for the very detailed review. I hope others find it as useful as I have. I'll be putting together a "How to Install" file to upload as well so that those new to FG can install this easily without having to look for any other resources. I also appreciate the detailed grammar issues you have identified for me. I'll be going through and correcting those, everyone should look for an update soon.

Great for player characters to play a unique race, and one perfectly suited to Tomb of Annihilation.

However, at 4 pages and $4.99, not really worth the purchase, as I found it lacking in overall content, (character hooks, introduction to the game world (Chult or otherwise)), and only showcases 4 of the players characters in the event - and only to give some backstory, not their statistics, etc. I was expecting more for the price.

One title page; one half page of the authors background into the Grung life shared with half a page of artwork; and a page and half on the 4 characters and their respective artwork and the last half page to the traits of the Grung...

Artwork is stellar, the descriptions pleasant, and the content is heartfelt and speaks to the passion of the writer, and his love of the Grung!
