Capsule 005 Cardboard Model

I printed this up and made it in an afternoon. I liked the strong deep colour contrasts and the assembly was very straightforward. I can see myself getting some of the other designs and trying to make some interiors too.

Blood in Space

My early impressions of Blood in Space are positive - the author has definitely thought things through and provides a flexible system for running solo (maybe even cooporative?) sci-fi crawlers. There's a number of innovative mechanics that I haven't previously encountered and there appears to be enough content to adapt to pretty much any sci-fi setting you could readily think of. I'm going to keep on exploring the system and am tempted to give the fantasy version a try as well.

I wrote up a partial play-along/play-through on my Blog that describes the manner in which a scenario is generated, the map is explored and combat is resolved: https://southernbermanblog.blogspot.com/2019/02/bad-juju-blood-in-space.html

There's more depth to the game than I've presently written up (e.g., a progressive campaign and various non-combat focused scenarios) but I intend to explore them some more in due course.

Hi! Thanks a lot for your AAR and positive review. You suggested a different layout for the tables ("I'd like to be able to the combat tables in the same book, please"): can you provide some additional details ? Gottardo

Spaceport Tiles #2 Paper Terrain

A real quality product - very happy with the variety that can be produced using the layer-mechanism - being able to tweak the look of a piece of terrain simply by (for example) checking GRIME 1, GRIME 2 and/or GRIME 3 (layer) is very easy to use. In less than 30 minutes I was able to print, prepare, mount and complete the four squares to make a 12 inch square landing pad and now this sector's local star port is quickly taking shape...

I've got some shots of what can be done with the set on my blog

Rogue Planet

I'm only a recent skirm-style game convert and have tried a number of systems looking for that elusive 'something special'.

I think I've found it with Rogue Planet.

The depth of tactical choice coupled with the amount of character the mechanics afford is absolutely bang-on. Couple that with basically zero book-keeping, low complexity and a huge amount of adaptability and flexibility... I'm just dumbfounded that my mates hadn't discovered this gem before me! The system provides the means of running an entertaining battle with only a handful of miniatures on each side and little or any homework/prep.

If you'd like a sense of how the game plays, you might like to check out this Battle Report - if you get a sense that we've enjoyed the game, well you're right! I'm looking forward to trialling Brent's other creations in due course.
