The Lost City

Dr. Zumail Hedron of the University of New Mexico Institute of Archaeology announced an institute team had finally located Qiba, the lost temple city of the Tumaran culture.  “Unfortunately,” Dr Hedron explained, “we lost contact with the team after a brief transmission that said only ‘wonderful things, I see wonderful things.’ We are hopeful contact will be restored.”  That was three years ago. . .

Finger and Toe Models announce its latest release: The Lost City, a set of scene building blocks similar to our successful Sci-Blocks.  Fantasy, sci-fi, pulp–The Lost City can build your encounters in the jungle, desert, the steppes or arctic waste–even distant worlds.

The Lost City is a set of one-inch-high stackable blocks.  Included are:
•    six, four, and two squares,
•    two by four and two by six platforms,
•    a two by four inch ramp,
•    three walkways (two, four, and six inch spans) that fit onto the blocks,
•    an altar,
•    a brazier
•    a sacrificial basin, and
•    a palisade.

Expansions are already in the pipeline for an Egyptian temple and tomb, a Greco-Roman temple,, and a neolithic barrow and standing stones.

Visit www.fingerandtoe.com for more detailed pictures and a discussion of their use.

A special note for those of us with younger gamer friends and family: like Sci-Blocks, this is the perfect set to get them started in modeling.  The pieces assemble quickly and easily, and work like building blocks.  The two largest blocks have internal braces so they won’t sag under heavier metal miniatures.  You might need to help with those.  They’re also perfect with little green army men–and if a block gets smooshed by little fingers playing like little fingers do, print another and have fun together.

The Lost City is available for $4.00 exclusively at www.RPGNOW.com

Finger and Toe’s motto, “Because they don’t cost you an arm and a leg,” explains the company’s philosophy: affordable scenery and model sets for wargamers.  Visit the website [www.fingerandtoe.com ], look around, have fun.  If you like what you see, try our other products at RPGNOW.

Excellent value. A modular kit that allows you to build all kinds of temples and ruins of some long forgotten civilization. Great for pulp adventures and should also fit fantasy or post-apocalyptic too. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
