The Dead of Winter (at Bearhamer Hall)

Black Death Publishing presents a horror adventure set in the cold, snowy mountains of Hanan Pacha. The Grand Caldera Mountains are a dangerous place at any time of the year, but especially during the Dead of Winter at Bearhammer Hall.

Rumor has it that the ancient gods, called 'Titans', sleep in these lands. Their offspring, the true giants, prowl these high places guarding the treasure left behind by their creators. An undead ettin (Wokrah), commands undead goblins who are terrorizing the forest plateau. Wokrah's master, a mysterious, evil wizard is trying to acquire an undead army.

This is a medium length adventure that is the third in a series that introduces adventurers to the world of Hanan Pacha. The first two, Spire of the Raven God and Lair of the Demon Princess both describe the evil that's menacing the demi-plane world. This one continues that theme and reveals a second location that connects to the dreaded, Labyrinth of the Lost (the 4th adventure). All four link together in events noted through the storyline. This one can be completed in one or two playing sessions.

The adventure is also easy to place in most fantasy settings. It is most suited to levels 7 - 12 characters that are strong on abilities, weaponry and magic. Death comes easily and critical mistakes can cost characters their lives! Be sure to look for the other adventures in the Hanan Pacha series. Our world is truly unique and priced low for the benefit of you: the customer.

A sacred spire in the Kingdom of Elleron is taken by the demon lord, Varnaku, and his minions. So begins the quest in Hanan Pacha to rid the demi-plane of the evil ones who seek to make it part of their domain! The Spire of the Raven God; The Lair of the Demon Princess, The Dead of Winter and the Labyrinth of the Lost, Beyond the Black Door and Wyrmslayer are adventures that take your PCs throughout the regions of the central lands of the Inland Sea. There are plenty of conflicts, political intrigue, memorable NPCs and mysteries to solve as the heros seek the ultimate threat to the Land of Hanan Pacha!

Often, adventures by independent companies fall into two categories. Dreadfully boring romps that feel like it was written a few decades ago or wildly imaginative pieces that are quite imaginable but too over the top to run with an average group. [...]

An RPG Resource Review: A simple task surely - a party of friends on a late-autumn hunting expedition have failed to return from the mountains: can the characters find them? But rather nicely, instead of using this to start the adventure, it ope [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
