Civilian BumbleBee

Civil Air: BumbleBee is Finger and Toe Models’ version of the Yoruba Industries YC-11 intra-urban transport. A successful airframe, the BumbleBee has proved so versatile it can be found ferrying cargo pods from V-Ports to ultra-high rises or delivering police special operations teams to just the right floor of a four hundred and fifty floor residential pyramid. Many people are grateful when a BumbleBee passes over, for the humble Bee is the modern med-evac aircraft of choice.

Pilots love the wide view they have from the BumbleBee’s distinctive all glass nose, although police special operations pilots soon began slapping improvised armor on all that glass, wistfully staring at the armored cockpit of the military’s assault shuttle version (as purchasers of Tactical: BumbleBee will soon see). Pilots also love the unparalleled maneuverability the six lift fans give in a high rise urban environment. Ambulances back up to upper floors, directly evacuating victims from balconies or even picture windows. The civilian version of the Bee has twelve smaller lift fans for redundancy, a critical aspect in a civilian use where pedestrians tend to get upset and litigious if an aircraft falls on them.

The wide and long interior can be adapted for a wide range of business and military needs. Freight versions of the Bee even move containerized cargo, as the Bee was designed to accommodate the standard aerospace containers used by nearly all the major shippings lines and governments. Conventional containers will also fit, but the 10x10x20 containers require local permits, as the rear hatch must be open and secured during flight.

The kit includes four civilian versions: an ambulance, a cargo carrier, a metropolitan rapid tranist ship, and a police special operations vehicles, as well as two different interiors, and a cargo pod with an interior. The assembled model is five and a half inches long, six inches wide, and two and a quarter inches high.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
