With Faith and Conviction

Strife divides the psi orders when they must unite against a horrible threat from beyond the stars. Time is short and the stakes are higher than ever. You must unify humanity and find the secret to defeating this energy before it destroys the Earth!

The Truth is Laid Bare

Ascent into Light is the third and final installment in the Darkness Revealed adventure series for the Trinity science-fiction setting. This book concludes the epic story from Descent into Darkness and Passage Through Shadow, a saga that changes the Trinity Universe forever.

Ascent into Light includes:

  • Two complete adventures for any Trinity series
  • Important source material on North America, extrasolar space and Africa
  • The conclusion of the sweeping Darkness Revealed trilogy

This is the final part of the Darkness Revealed epic. In Episode One: Heaven Through Iron Gates, the characters are sent to the Karoo Mining Facility in the Crab Nebula using one of the new Leviathan jump ships in order to investigate the aftermath of the Chromatic attack. While there, they inadvertently discover the truth of what happened to the missing Upeo wa Macho teleportation order and the Esperanza crash.

In Episode Two: Climbing to Tarterus, the characters are on the run from the Æon Trinity, who wish to suppress the revelations gathered in the previous episode, fearing widespread panic. As the UN has gathered to discuss the revelations of the Huang-Marr biorg conspiracy, characters must infiltrate the UN council chambers on Luna to tell the world what they've learned, being dogged by assassins the entire way.

Hidden Lore

Release: Originally billed as A Light in the Darkness, Ascent into Light was published December 1998. The second episode, Climbing to Tarterus, is the first revelation that psions and Aberrants are both based on the same genetic sequence: a "switch" which expresses as psi latency one way, but the development of an Aberrant M-R node when flipped the other way.

Ascent into Light features an advertisement for LoneStar, an expansion for miniatures game Trinity: Battleground, due for January 1999. Unfortunately Battleground was cancelled, and LoneStar never saw release. It would have featured VARGs, Orgotek and FSA troops, to supplement the base game's focus on Legionnaires and Aberrants.

Cover: Like the other covers in the series, this was created by William O'Connor. It features several Scarab-class ships alongside Chromatic fighters, apparently above the Æsculapians' Monstressor Clinic. This scene doesn't appear in the book, so may have been extra art from Passage Through Shadow, or perhaps illustrates a scenario from an earlier draft.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
