DDAL07-06 Fester and Burn (5e)

Multiple File Formats

The denizens of the Old City have made some unusual sightings in the festering refuse pits on the outskirts of the city, and while such reports are seldom taken terribly seriously, the mysterious disappearance of a beloved figure in the poor part of Port Nyanzaru has folks on edge.

Can you get to the bottom of this?

Part One of The Rot from Within Trilogy.

Note: Also included in the purchase of this adventure is a version specially converted .mod file for use with the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop software. The converted adventure features all the text and maps from the original adventure along with cross-linking of monsters, spells, magic items, equipment, and story elements, plus the powerful rules automation for which Fantasy Grounds is known.

I noticed that the flaming skulls here are modified, in that they do not have "(hover)" beside their fly speed, which means they go much higher and get out of range of the melee characters.

I ran this as part of an online convention.
First of all, anything with flaming skulls has a +1 from me! I really enjoyed the RP aspect of what life in the Old City really is, how gruesome it can be! The characters deciding the fate of NPC really allows them to flaunt their alignment.
Overall a good mod, would of appreciated some more difficult encounters.

Page 20 The Spawn of Kyuss have a 11 Dex with +11 modifier. This seems off to me.

Should I run the Tomb of Annihlation campaign before running this campaign or does it not matter?

So for this specific season 7 adventure, it can be run as part of ToA or after. It's really up to you! I'd say read the first two chapters of ToA to get an idea of the adventure and city and then work it in as you like.

I was provided with a copy of this module to run at a store for a charity event. I'd give the module 4/5 stars. I like that it occurs in Port Nyanzarou and uses the refuse pit as it's location. I also liked that there are enemy spell-casters available in every combat which allows the DM to offer challenges to the party and punish characters who bunch up. Also, the rolling ball of bones trap and the collapsing tomb were very unique. My party unfortunately went straight for the Cyst without first releasing any of the prisoners which meant that it was impossible to get them all out. The only downside was again trying to cram the module into 2 hours which I find a constant struggle for AL modules.

Cert file is weird, doesn't appear to have the correct font.

The first card of the Cert needs to be fixed. When you print it it removed the Text for Mace of Smiting.

The info for this module said it was for Tier 1 (Level 1 to 4) so I bought it and downloaded it...looks like it's for Tier 2 (Level 5 to 10).

Yup, front cover says 5-10 vs the "mouse over" that says 1-4

Yup - the newly updated file for the certs is a form-editable version. So... player... I've got a Deck of Many Things... ;-P

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
