Colours of Magic: Yellow

A Spectrum Shift: Chromatic Arcana Product

Length: 20 pages + licence

In some worlds, Magic may not be seen as a force in and of itself. In some philosophies, magic can not be classed by types of effect, like Evocation, Illusion or Abjuration. Instead, it might be seen as a result of fundamental aspects of arcane metaphysics.

One such theory holds that all magic is a result of the principles of Colour.

Yellow is the colour of health, vivacity and passion. It represents the power of life to survive, thrive and increase. Those with mastery over Yellow magic are powerful healers, easily the match of clerics, but using study, reason and arcane magic to evoke their effects instead of faith.

Those that focus on healing mind and body, studying how to best blend practical doctoring with arcane magic might become Physicians. These specialists in yellow magic learn to heal wounds, cure diseases, even raise the dead, with only arcane power and their bare hands. Should the need arise, the hands of a Healer can also be used to harm.

Included in this product:
- 3 new Clerical or Mystical domains
- a linked reclassification of one twelfth of the spells of the players handbook, with some new spell effects to fit the spells into Chromatic Magic Theory
- a whole new character class, the Physician. This spellcaster is a powerful healer and user of Yellow magic.

The colours of Magic are being updated to 5e if you are interested - Please take look at Brown

Spectrum Shift: d20 fantasy from a slightly twisted perspective.

Yellow is colour of life energy. The spells that it encompasses mostly fall under the purview of clerics, even more so than white magic. The Physician class introduced in this product is quite interesting. The concept of an arcane healer is enough to [...]

"CLERIC!" has been called at many gaming tables when a party member is wounded. The needs of having a healer in the party has been important to just about any adventuring group. The Physician is a great class to have for that role. I [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
