I just noticed that in my PDF, pages 197 and 199 are missing. Is there anything important on those pages?

Page 31 the side bar and main text seem to contradict each other when describing a disruption check. Main text used a TN 4 on the disruption check. The sidebar states that disruption takes place if rolling under TL. I am guessing the sidebar is from another iteration of the game and that the main text is correct.

Could you please define "entourage". This appears in the "Blood Royal" edge. It maybe similar to "Followers" from SWD, but I can't tell from the book.

Sorry to bombard you with questions: did a character sheet for Amethyst Untamed ever get produced?

The rule for disruption is that the GM rolls a d12 and adds the highest relevant TL or EL. On a 4 or higher, a disruption event occurs. This makes disruption a lot more likely to occur than in the d20 derived versions of Amethyst where you roll a d20 and get disruption when the result is equal or under the highest relevant TL. For example, a TL 3 item will always disrupt under the Savage Worlds rule as d12+3 rolls a minimum of 4.

Wouldn't rolling the die associated with the highest relevant TL or EL, which starts at d4 and goes to d12+2 be a better match, and be more in line with Savage Worlds' core rule? Also, it means that there is a chance, even if slim, that even a TL5 item doesn't disrupt.

SW uses the 'reduced effect' variant for disruption instead of the 'it just doesn't work anymore' approach. So the events are more common but less damaging. It might be missing a line to the effect that multiple disruptions (from raises) don't have to all affect the same character, though... (From my editor and contributing writer)

Interesting. I am not sure I see the effect as being significantly reduced enough to justify the markedly higher chance of it happening. In SW, once an item is disrupted, it stops providing its bonus and permanently fails once you fail three rolls whilst using it. In 5e, once an item is disrupted, it stops providing its bonus and permanently fails once you fail three saving throws performed each turn. 5e's is more immediate, but it is 75 to 95% less chance of happening. And though you could continue to make rolls with a higher chance of success in SW, staving of permanent failure, the result will continue to loom over the item until it occurs.

From my co-writer: "It's a reasonable house rule to reduce the size of the die according to the device, though - it's only a d12 because the idea was that anything higher than TL2 was supposed to pretty much guarantee that at least one thing goes wrong, and probably more."

Cool. Thanks.

Now I need to buy Untamed as well as Quintessence. I love Quintessence but find the presentation of material easier to navigate in Untamed as Savage Worlds lacks the mechanical structure in 5e. I love the two book split too.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
