About Heroic Maps

Our game boards were originally designed to be used with Heroquest.  That's why you'll notice we don't mark the doors or add furniture - you can put these wherever you want them, using you favourite system (paper or 3D).  This will mean the board can be different every time you use it. You can download our free door pack here:

Heroic Maps boards are flexible enough to be used with many game systems.

Heroquest players: Our boards are the size of half of the Heroquest board, so two placed together are a complete replacement for the original game board.  This means our maps provide a complete and ranging expansion for the classic dungeon crawl game!

Are there any plans for Heroic Maps to ever remake this map with doors and furniture? I love the layout and everything, but my preference is for them to be furnished etc for my players. I'd even love some asset packs from HM to do it myself, if thats something you'd consider or would be easier? Really love your stuff.

Hey, I've purchased a couple of Heroic Maps and am impressed with them so far. Especially like the Mage's Tower. I am going to purchase the Lich's Lair, possibly Explorer:Battle Rooms and maybe the Chromatic Dragons Bundle. I've a question however I could use advice on (ideally from the vendors) but anyone who has bought Heroic Maps.

I am in need of a LARGE throne room. It needs to look pretty resplendent and fitting for the throne room of an Emperor. Whilst this particular map product has a throne room, it isn't nearly big enough for the end of campaign encounter I've in mind. Is there a product in the range that has a good sized throne room? I'm thinking sort of 10 square wide and probably at least 15 squares long. Failing that, is there a nifty way of printing multiple pages of this (Raventhorn Keep) map's throne room to "extend" it to the dimensions I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Oliver. A few maps with larger throne rooms come to mind. There are some large halls in Battlerooms 1, and a nice sized throne room in Kennelfield Castle. The largest throne room we have is in Ancient Dungeon Rooms http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/171325/Heroic-Maps--Modular-Kit-Ancient-Dungeon-Rooms . Hope that helps

Hey Joseph. Thank you very much for your reply and apologies for the tardiness of mine. They’re not quite what I’m looking for unfortunately, although I have already bought the Bsttkerooms 1 and love the print outs. The party just need to hurry on and get to them now.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
