Conspiracist: the Game THEY Don't Want You to Play!

Suggested Price $12.00

I stumbled out of the crashed alien spacecraft and toward the secret government bunker that housed the real Statue of Liberty. Agent Burks unloaded his plasma thrower into the surrounding forest, melting the trees before they had a chance to burn. The lizardman clone we were supposed to transport safely was bleeding to death in my arms. I had only one thought:

“Abraham Lincoln is going to pay.”

In Conspiracist, you play as a henchman for the Illuminati: a vast organization that controls the world from the shadows. As play proceeds, the story becomes more and more convoluted. By the end, the plot is a tangled mess worthy of being called a paranoid conspiracy theory!
Conspiracist is frantically paced and designed for impromptu one-shots. The Controller presents a highly abstract mission briefing such as a bag of fried chicken, and the players must make logical connections with the briefing until they come to a conclusion about what their mission is. From there, the rules help guide the story deep into a web of mystery as the characters discover they are in way over their heads.

    Features:

  • A rules-lite system that guides the story toward paranoid insanity
  • Optimized for a pick-up-and-play experience
  • A paranoid, build-your-own-conspiracy mission generation mechanic
  • Licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA

Running this game was like a fever dream. As a GM, you don’t even know what the main theme, concept or aim of your game is going to be until after you’ve started playing, so being comfortable with improv and on-the-spot storytelling is a must if you’re looking to run this wonderful chaos. Still, if you can get to grips with that, the game is funny, fast-paced, and a great light-hearted way to spend an afternoon with your friends.

ideal for friend groups were everyone is naturally chaotic neutral. started with them at a Chinese restaurant cracking open fortune cookies, ended with blowing up the Eiffel tower from a starbucks bathroom. 10/10 would lazily whatsapp stock images of fortune cookies to friends as they question reality again.
The only thing i could recommend to streamline the experience is that when DMs present the stimulus for the story: gameplay should pause while the players discuss what the conspiracy is on a time limit of 10mins max to counteract wheel spinning. other ttrppg dont have to player basically come up with the story/game plan and on the fly during play no less and i find if everyones trying to stay in character during this phase can derail play into a lull.

This game is kinda like Ninja Burger, Paranoia and GURPs Illuminati crammed together with lots of Robert Anton Wilson sprinkles on top. Looks like fun

I've read the Conspiracist game and am looking forward to giving it a go. I have a quick question. In your experience, how long does a session usually take, and when you are running it, since it is so unplanned, how do you know when it is over (I'm sure the initial mission probably warps so much during play.)
Thanks! Looks crazy fun.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
